Ty Thompson – Nevada DB – 2011 Junior – 6-2, 203

- A solid 6-foot-2, 203-pound physical defensive back with speed, Thompson, who is a Junior transfer, could very well fill a position of need for the Wolf Pack defense starting in 2011.  He’ll join the Nevada program in January and be eligible for spring football.
- Thompson spent the past two seasons at Bakersfield College and was a teammate of two Nevada recruits a year ago (Rishard Matthews and Jordan Mudge).  He helped the Renegades win 17 of 20 games between 2009 and 2010. Prior to that, Thompson was part of Paul Wulff’s inaugural recruiting class at Washington State in 2008.  He was recruited as a wide receiver and spent the year as a redshirt.
- Thompson doubles as a track athlete, and qualified for the JC triple-jump championship last year.  During his prep career, he won both the league and valley championships in all four of his events during his junior and senior seasons.  His father, Dave, played football at New Mexico and his uncle, Dick Witcher, played football at UCLA.
- Thompson is a monster hitter, as is evident on his video that is linked below.
