Texas State Signs Dennis Franchione To New Five-Year Contract

Texas State University president Denise M. Trauth and athletic director Larry Teis announced Thursday that head football coach Dennis Franchione has agreed to a new five-year contract with the university. Under terms of his new agreement, Franchione remains at his current salary until Feb. 2014, when it increases to $400,000 for the remaining years. >> more

For the second straight year, the Texas State football team held a team draft with players selecting the rosters for Saturday’s Maroon-Gold Spring Game that kicks off at 6:00 p.m. at Bobcat Stadium. Jordan Norfleet, Justin Iwuji, Devin Baker and Andy Erickson selected players for the Gold team, while Charlie Will Tuttle, Michael Orakpo, D.J. The Texas State football team will hold a player draft on Wednesday afternoon 3:15 p.m. inside the South End Zone Complex to select the two teams for the annual Maroon-Gold Spring Game on Saturday, April 6. The Bobcats will have four players selecting each team with Isaiah Battle, Charlie Will Tuttle, Michael Orakpo and Blake McColloch selecting one team, with Andy Erickson, Jordan Norfleet, Justin Iwuji and Devin Baker choosing the other team. >> more
