Signing Day Howl: Tyler Houk
In a program that was built on finding talented, yet under-recruited prospects largely in the Central California section, Nevada might have done it again by landing former Exeter (Calif.) high school standout Tyler Houk. A 6-foot-4, 252-pound defensive end who will be a sophomore in 2011, Houk has some big-time talent. Silver and Blue Sports spoke with the talented future Nevada D-lineman about his recruitment, his high school career and his road back to Reno in this special Signing Day edition of “The Howl” inside.

In two-to-three years from now, Nevada fans might look back at the recruitment of Bryan Lane, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound linebacker from Christian Brothers high school in Sacramento (Calif.) as one of the best additions in the 2011 recruiting class. Lane, who went largely under-recruited, has an outstanding frame with which to build on, plus great agility and length. For Bozeman (Mont.) high school star Tanner Roderick, you’d have to go back to his junior season to find an two losses on any team he’s played for. Roderick went undefeated in football this year, leading his prep team to its first state championship since 1917.
