Dean Faddis 150-4When you talk about rushing the football over the past three seasons in college football, things start and stop with the University of Nevada. Featuring the Pistol offense, no program has rushed for more yards, carried for a higher average or set as many notable records as the Wolf Pack.  Chris Ault’s downhill rushing attack is the only program in college football to pile up more than 12,000 yards over the past 3 seasons.

Nevada-UNLV 150-2As I write this, Bryan Stow, a 42-year-old paramedic from Santa Cruz is blissfully unaware that his allotted fifteen minutes have begun to run.  They waste away while he lies comatose, six hours from home, in a hospital near Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.  He deserved this, of course, strictly because his New Era cap is woven with thread that is Orange & Black.

Thad Brown 150-1Entering the 2008 season, there were no players on the entire Nevada roster who had played a down of cornerback in major college football.  It was a brutal fact for a team, which also featured a first-year secondary coach in James Ward that year, who faced a daunting schedule against pass-happy programs like Texas Tech and Missouri, just to name a few.  Fast-forward three years, coming off a year where they put together a Top 40 ranked defensive backfield in pass efficiency defense to help Nevada go 13-1, you’ll see talent on top of talent.
