Pick the WAC Tournament Challenge
With less than 48 hours before the men’s portion of the WAC Tournament begins, it is time to announce SilverandBlueSports first ever “Pick the WAC Tournament Challenge”, which invites all members and non-members the chance to pick each game of the 2010 bracket.
One of the key positions in Nevada’s vaunted Pistol offense is without a doubt the tight end. The Pack include their tight ends as members of “The Union”, their talented O-Line core, plus a significant part of the passing game. That’s why the addition of Los Angeles (Calif.) El Camino CC standout Erik Stewart could be huge for the season ahead.
It took a little longer than anyone wanted it to around Nevada basketball, but the word finally came for former Los Angeles (Calif.) prep standout Jerry Evans. He is now officially part of the Wolf Pack program after the NCAA Eligibility Center.
As Nevada football begins their spring session the clear focal point of the Nevada program is to reshape a defense that has been pourous at best the past two seasons. That’s why Andy Buh, a former Nevada defender who left Stanford and turned down an opportunity at Western Kentucky, is back home.
Nevada looked to continue their four-game winning streak with a series sweep of the Central Arkansas Bears on Sunday Afternoon at Peccole Park. The Wolf Pack won the first two games of the series with a combined score of 30-17 and with Brock Stassi on the hill and his 2-0 record and 0.73 ERA, things looked good for the Pack.
After this weekend, with Nevada winning their final two home games to secure the No. 2 seed in the WAC Tournament, it was only a matter of time before Luke Babbitt was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year. Babbitt, who led the WAC in scoring and finished third in rebounding, also earned first-team all-WAC honors as well.
When March comes around every college basketball season, you want your team to be playing on all cylinders. Even when the pressure is on, like it was for both Louisiana Tech and Nevada tonight, your team still must execute and battle to the end. Tonight, the Pack did that, pushing themselves to the No. 2 seed for the upcoming WAC Tournament.
The Nevada Wolf Pack (6-3) came into the second game of the Central Arkansas series riding a three-game winning streak following a 17-10 defeat of the Bears on Friday in their home opener. Chris Garcia continued the streak as he brought his sparkling 1-0 record and 0.90 ERA into Peccole Park to make his home debut on the young season.
Playing in their home opener, Nevada gave the Silver and Blue faithful plenty to root for as they ran their record to 6-3 on the young season by demolishing Central Arkansas 17-10. SilverandBlueSports photographer caught the action in his first ever Nevada baseball slideshow.
The Nevada Wolf Pack baseball team opened at home on Friday with a mid-afternoon matchup against the Central Arkansas Bears and cruised to a 17-10 victory. The Bears came into the game at Peccole Park with a 3-4 record and threw their ace Michael Wild, who sported a solid 1-0 record and 2.63 ERA, but the Nevada bats were ready.
