Heidi from "The Hills" gets a BIG reality check (http://www.hiphoprx.com/2010/01/21/heidi-montags-2-million-superficial-album-sells-just-650-copies-first-week/)
I don't know about you, but I felt great hope for the human race after reading this story. :D

With the crap people buy these days, it wouldn't have surprised me if she did sell a bunch...but I agree this is great news and funny as hell. Those people that surround themselves with 'yes men/women' certainly do get a reality check at times.
I can just hear her now...."Are you sure it's not $658 million worth of sales???". :)

That was my exact thought when reading this, too. Just goes to show you how few friends this woman actually has, because it would've only taken one to stop her from doing any of this.

From what I have learned of the music business, singers make their money from touring. I could assume that more album sales = higher ticket sales/prices but I am sure she could tour at smaller venues charging 10-20bucks and make a fortunate going around the country with someone similar to her.

Up until the early/mid 90's, the purpose of a tour was to promote sales of an album. A lot of bands with big shows just about broke even on the tour, but made some decent money on merchandising. Remember how cheap tickets used to be (even when adjusted for inflation).
Then it started to transition into what we have today.....touring and merchandising is everything in terms of making money, and album sales pretty much promote a tour. Prince has the business model of giving away his newest CD to everyone that attened his shows. That's a way of promoting his tour even more.
Another way they make money is by licensing songs for commercials, movies, etc. But the tour thing is still the king in terms of fame and making big bucks in the music business these days. Luckily musicians can tour. What are the movie houses going to do when everyone starts copying movies without paying? Go on tour with a movie? I think not. Things could get ugly.

Start their own premium channels and instead of theaters, watch new movies from your home for competitive prices with current PPV and premium channels IMO.

In the future with 'new' internet with insanely high broadband, people will be able to swap movies like songs. New movies usually leak out while in theaters or even before. So a big market of young movie goers certainly wouldn't have to pay anything for these movies.

Who is Heidi from the Hills and how did she have 2 million dollars to spend in the first place? I'm so out of touch.

I never knew who she was until a couple of days ago when she appeared all over the place about her plastic surgery
