Kid crashed my 4x4 on his way back to school. Says black ice and good thing he hit the big snow bank. Anyway, I need to know if you guys have a recommendation to fix some small bumps and bruises on the truck. Looking for a reputable body shop so he can drop it off. Have State Farm insurance and they gave me some recommendations, but just checking.

I've been an Insurance Adjuster in the area for 20+ years. I would recommend a shop called Coachcraft Auto Body. I've worked with the owners Perry and Rick for many years and they do great work. Coachcraft is located across the street from Renown Hospital on Second Street. I hope this helps. Stan Smith

That's cool. I used to be an auto adjuster for Farmers in San Diego for a couple of years...then I decided to quit and go back to school. It's an interesting gig.

Hey wlfpckfan - offhand do you know if they do classic automobile work? I have some gapping I want done on my hotrod and I don't want to spend an arm and a leg at a classic auto resto shop. I'm more talking gapping the sheetmetal panels than anything else.

Also, can you recommend a good paint shop that won't try to rip me off when they see me rolling up? I've had estimates for $8k+ for a 4-coat plus laqeur and I about #$%@ myself when I saw the estimate. I was hoping for about $2,500 for a "5-foot" paint job (ie. looks great from five feet out or more).

Thanks!

Packfan11, I don't deal with a lot of the classic stuff. One shop that I know does some nice classic work is Final Finish (Eric). Another idea would be to go by and talk with Rick and Coachcraft and see if he could give you a recommendation. Rick the co-owner at Coachcraft is a former painter and he might have some ideas. I'm Sorry I'm not much help here. Working on classics tends to be very expensive unless you can find an someone good who is willing to it on the side.

Wolfpkfan- just wanted to thank you for the advice on where to go. The kid has an appointment at Coachcraft to get the truck fixed. It really helped and made it simple. Thanks again!
