SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - Waste Management is offering Sparks area residents the first of four 2010 residential dump days the weekend of Jan. 2-3.
Officials say the program aims to boost household cleanups and cut illegal dumping by offering reduced residential rates for
municipal solid waste at both transfer stations in Reno.
Hard-to dispose materials like freon-free refrigerators, hot water heaters, stoves, dishwashers, washers and dryers will be accepted at no charge.
Bulky waste like sofas, chairs, mattresses and box springs also will be accepted.
Officials say Lockwood landfill will not be accepting material, and electronic waste recycling isn't part of this event.
Christmas trees are being recycled separately.
