Just got back from sitting right behind the Pack bench at the game. We noticed from the very beginning that the Pack had zero emotion on the sideline. We did the Law of the Jungle before the game and a couple of trainers gave us thumbs up, but the players just stared at us. They looked like they couldn't wait to leave, even when they were still in it. One player's brother said they looked like they were watching the clock instead of the game. Another player's father ran down behind the bench and was screaming at his son and the coaches several times. They just gave him a blank stare too. There was just zero emotion on that team all day.
I haven't read the other comments, and I know Ault got out-coached, but I have not ever seen a Wolf Pack team this flat from beginning to end.

Like I said, knowing the athlete culture at ***, or at any other school that doesn't have a strict sense of discipline, they probably were more concerned about the Luaus, parties, cocktails and beaches.

The defense did not show up, well when has the D over the last 10 years?
The offensive line forgot how to block and that is all she wrote.
I think that Chris Ault needs to send a personal apology out to all the fans who have supported this program. He flat out did not have a team that was ready to play and failed to execute on whatever game plan they had. That all falls on his shoulders. If he places blame in any other direction other than at himself I will have lost all respect for the man.

Don't you have something better to do with your time? Perhaps refilling your rogaine, Eric?

Wow...red herring much?
When your football program loses 5 players because of grades, felonies, assaults and other stuff like that just because you are in Hawaii, it means that there is a certain culture of discipline that isn't being bred. It means that your players care more about doing their own thing then bringing respect to Nevada on the national stage.
You can deny it all you want, but when your players look at the clock, stand on the field like a bunch of clueless individuals and do nothing in a game like this...there is something going on.

Not diverting...I actually agree with your premise. Just questioning why someone who loathes this university would choose to spend their Christmas Eve on here. Obsess much?

That was just embarrassing we just got torched on christmas eve, that pass defense felt like last year us getting picked apart by an average quarterback, this kid was just a true freshman and we made him look like he should go 1 in the draft.

OK... so, if the players looked so flat, who's fault is it? The players? The Asst Coaches or the Head Coach that allowed them to go play for a week before the big game? Some on SBS seem to think that it's the players as they were the ones on the field. I tend to think that it's Ault's fault for a complete and total lack of discipline... your thoughts???

I think we should all spend more time in life on facts and less on opinion.
Here are some facts:
The water park, beach bbq, pep rally and hospital visit were all official bowl functions. Both teams were required to attend them, so it wasn't the coaches letting them play. They are also one of the thngs that make this a great bowl game for the players. At the pep rally June Jomes commented that it was one of the best bowl games in the country for the teams involved.
If you have any first hand knowledge of Chris Ault, you know he is a great motivational speaker. I'm sure he tried to get the kids fired up. He also has a system that relies on peer pressure among the players.
Sometimes teams go flat. I've talked to several Nevada football and basketball coaches and asked them why a team went flat on a certain game and what they can do to fix it. They have all replied that every coach wishes they knew the answers to those questions.
It seems to me that there is plenty of blame to go around, but that is just opinion.
