It looks like ND is going to decline a bowl game offer. So this opens up another spot for the Pack to go, should Hawaii win their game on Saturday.
Most projections had ND going to the Little Ceaser Pizza Bowl in Detroit. Still Think I would rather see the Pack in the NM Bowl.

Bite your toungue! I don't know. I have an extreme prejudice against the New Mexico bowl (unfounded). I just don't like the thought have going through a season and playing a middle-of-the-pack MWC team in Albuquerque as a reward - I had to go there all the time as a kid and it just didn't impress. I want to see a BCS opponent if the Pack makes it to a bowl but I guess a bowl, is a bowl, is a bowl unless you're in the BCS.
But you are right, who wants to go to Detroit in December (or ever - been to Michigan 10 times, never have seen the sun there)?

The players voted and voted it down? As a competitor - how do you do that? With something to prove - how do you do that? I don't get that decision. I think it sets them up on the wrong side of the fence heading into next year.
The plus side of going to Detroit is that if you have an extra $100 to spend you can go down and buy 2 foreclosed homes at auction. Don't know what you do with them, but at least you can say you did it.

as a ND fan this is a horrible stupid idiotic idea...what about the seniors who have worked their tail off?? what about the young guys who want a chance to play?? ND is no where near good enough to think they can pick and choose what bowl they want to go to...you are invited to play, you play!

Anytime a team quits on itself I think it is a bad thing . . . I think you don't make this decision hastily but this might be a good indicator that the NFLers on this team don't want to play another "meaningless" game that might hurt their future. I can see a Tait, Floyd, Clausen saying just that.
But I have to say that I don't think 6-6 teams should be able to go to a bowl. Rewarding mediocrity seems a little pointless. Yeah, the trips are fun for the kids but going to a bowl should mean something. Don't you think?

I am surprised that ND didnt waste any time firing weis. I think they should of waited after their decision of playing a bowl game or not.

Don't foget that last year we were going to say no to a bowl game if we hadn't pulled out the comeback win against La Tech.
Nevada to the GMAC vs Central Michigan wouldn't be the worst, other than that it's not til Jan 6th or something.
As for the NM bowl, well two years ago that NM bowl highlight was a chili cook-off. Unfortunately I wanted to say it was the highlight for the pre-bowl activities, but it turned out to be the highlight for the whole thing, including the game.:(
Seems like you're reaching a bit for things to do when a chili cook-off is the best you can come up with.
BTW, I was in NM for the first time ever this year. Uhm.............yeah uhm.........no offense to people who live there or are from there (my father-in-law was born in Clovis, NM) but I have to say it's not a place I would choose to go to again.
