I'm more into watching the game so there won't be lots of posts here.
Shaw has been getting abused on D. EVeryone is throwing crazy passes for turnovers, but the shooting has been great and the game is tied at 32 with around minutes 7.5 left in the first half.

He's not doing anything wrong, they're just taking him out of the game. It's opening things up for others. He's best if he lets the game come to him.

Luke might want to consider another year here before going pro if he can't handle the heat in this atmosphere. He needs to zone into his game and go off. How is fieds doing? Unfortunately (fortunately) you guys are my only stats today.

The last 10 minutes of the half is the best Nevada has played all year. The offense is crisp, the hustle is intense. If Armon were hitting FTs the Pack would be up by more, but still great play.
Kraemer's shooting is fantastic and makes a huge difference for the team. As long as they are going to double Babbitt and AJ the three will be open. Having someone that can hit that shot makes the Pack a completely different team.
Dario played his best half of his Nevada career. He's actually pushing guys out of the paint and fighting on every possession. Combine that with scoring and he looks great.
Shaw got eaten alive by the BUY freshman for the first 5 minutes. He scored around 10 of BYUs 22 points. But he's doing better.
The biggest problems were the out of control or lazy passes, but they seem to have got that under control.
Man I wish I had some live stats.

Fields is doing well. He probably has 7 or 8 pts. He hit one or two threes. I think one. He might have fewer points, but he's not forcing things other than a lazy pass for a turnover. Armon is being Armon and winning the battle with BYU's highly touted PG.

I'm sure Dario doesn't have two fouls, and he may not have any. He may have been called for a block late in the half.

I know Dario has at least 1 foul. Ray's 5 three pointers are keeping the pack in the game, other than that I dont think this game is much different from the pacific and EWu games. BYu is shooting very very well and getting to the line alot. Fortunately the pack is shooting well also. Lots of turnovers..

62-61 Nevada. BYU going to the line on a Shaw foul. He's been the weakest link in this game. That freshman OWNS him.
Dario is just tearing it up. He probably has 12-14pts. He even hit his last 2 FTs.
Luke now has 4pts, but he's doing the right thing by passing to Hunt when he draws the double.

The announcers said Armon was the only other member of the team even moving during the possession. Can only assume if people were trying to get away from their man, Luke would have been able to get the ball away, despite the tight defense.

Nobody complains about our defense more than me, but I don't know why you signal out our two best players. I saw plenty of effort for the most part. I think it's coaching as the defense gets worse every year since TJ left. The team does not have a defensive identity and doesn't play with discipline and focus.
That's teaching and systemic problems IMHO.
And I'm not singling out Carter. It was this way when he took over. But it's up to him to fix it.

I single them out because they are the leaders and best players on this team. Its a team game not an audition for the NBA. Had enough of that with Mcgee...... I'd rather they declare and hire an agent then not committ themselves to playing defense. If they committ then maybe the rest of the fellas committ. Doesn matter if its wagner, south dakota or north carolilna opposing team are shredding the pack.
This wasnt Kansas that just torched them from 110 points!
Does Pacific have anyone on the draft boards? Vegas?? BYU? we got TWO? I am happy they are going to make 8 million dollars next year...but what about their teammates and Reno? I'd be alot happier if they just committed to playing defense and LEAD the pack to the NCAAs.

When it's FB the coaches get 90% of the blame. Now it's basketball and the players are getting 90% of the blame. In both cases coaching is the biggest issue and I do not agree with the suggestion that the players are selfish and just don't care. If AJ was playing for UNLV I think he'd be playing better defense because that's the focus of the coaching staff and that's the team's identity and culture under Kruger. Just like it was for TJ.

Is it possible that Carter is preaching more points, faster paced game? I thought he and the team were selling that this year. If so, they are accomplishing the goal. I hope that they maintain this for the rest of the year. I also hope that this was part one of the goal, that part two is to evolve the team into a defensive team as well. I am not sure if a team can score big and have a defensive strategy, especially in year one of a new coaching philosophy. At least I see maturity by a few players in pressure games...Hunt, Kraemer and AJ. We just need to have one or two killer D players and this team is sick. Can we have it all? Maybe not this year, do you think maybe next year? I see AJ gone but not Luke.

This was a tough loss to a good team that caught fire shooting the 3 in the second half - I've seen 4 Pack games this season and a handful of other WAC teams play and I am more confident than ever that the Pack has a GREAT chance of winning the WAC tourney at home in March. I hope to be there to see it...
