They have definitely changed the format, but this year Nevada is ranked 191. Actually considered tier 1. However, we're behind some random schools.

Saw that. They changed how they do everything, so being tied for 191st out of 262 national universities isn't exactly anything to brag about. At least we aren't in the newly created tier 2, like NSU.

Why aren't infrastructure improvements helping us more?

New student union. Check.
New library. Check
New molecular sciences building. Check
New engineering building. Check.
New buildings for medical school under const. Check.

And all these building have gone up in the last 3 years, you'd think that would count for something.

Don't forget the new math and science building on the south end of campus.

They also screwed with the formula to weight it even more heavily towards smaller, wealthier private universities at the expense of public flagship schools by lowering the peer assessment score. Ironically, it seemed to help the mid-tier UC campuses and hurt the Big Ten universities.

Gee, I guess if you're UC Davis and everyone graduates in the top tenth of their class, but a quarter of that freshman class can barely score better than the national average on the SAT it's overlooked.

They weren't - they ranked much higher than us......:( (http://rankings.usnews.com/best-colleges/compare/items+1616+2568)

To be fair to us though, we were graded as a national university, while they were graded as a regional university. What the difference is I have no clue. Maybe because we're looked at as a state college and their's represents a city?

Their score was 34 compared to our 22. I wonder if that is weighted based on the category? Or overall?

I don't think that puts BSU ahead of Nevada at all. Ranking high in the regional universities category is like being a good AAA ballclub. That still means you're worse than any major league club and, in fact, not even in the same league.

Regional Universities offer a full range of undergrad programs and some master's programs but few doctoral programs. These rankings are split into four regions: North, South, Midwest, and West.

Not only were they graded as a regional university, but those rankings are split into 4 regions (making the "ranking" higher by nature, as there's a smaller pool). Nevada, on the other hand, is ranked among all "Top Universities" nationally - a different pool entirely.

The info was in front of me all along - thanks for putting it together for me wiggum. You'd a thunk I was a NV Southern grad based on my reading comprehension - or a chiropractor.

Ours has a basis in our masters and doctorate level programs. BSU's does not.

Hey, I resemble that comment and I don't think I like the implication. You, sir, are not a nice person and I don't like you right now. Comprendes that?

Assuming all regions for the regional universities are created equal, then Boise St. is essentially in a tie for 201st with such esteemed schools as Winona State University from the midwest, University of North Florida from the south, and Emmanuel College from the northeast.
