The three big problems with this rumor are that 1. The Las Vegas Sun is reporting he's in town for his interview today 2. As of the time this thread was started, they haven't reported anything else and 3. Rebel Net is still quiet.

So take these bits of anonymous heresay (http://www.egriz.com/grizboard/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=41981) for what they're worth.

Holy crap, there's a SJSU fan talking trash there! They have to go to D-2 teams to find someone to make fun of?

It's a pretty good rumor though. Steve Stallworth (http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009/nov/05/steve-stallworth-one-first-nominees-unlv-athletic-/) (former UNLV FB player/booster/AD candidate) on Vegas radio a few days ago said Hauck is his first and only choice for the position. Even though he's a good coach I'm not sure he can recruit the region . . . assistants will mean a lot to him if he is picked.

Las Vegas paper (http://www.lvrj.com/blogs/unlv_sports/Montana_football_coach_Bobby_Hauck_to_return_for_s econd_interview.html)reporting Hauck coming back for second interview . . . looks like the job is his.

If I were him, I would stay at Montana, move them up to D1 and see where that goes. They probably would be better at that point compared to what UNLV is now.

Footballcoachscoop.com (http://footballcoachscoop.com/Scoop.html) is reporting as breaking news that Dennis Franchione is taking the job - they are kind of hit and miss though so its certainly not gospel

Agreed. Montana has potential and a pretty good regional fan base. They could be the only thing going in Montana sports and FBS would help. They have a decent basketbal program, why not FBS football? The could beat Washington State and Idaho on a regular basis :)
