Sonny Dykes, named to the All-American Football Foundation's Sonny Campbell Top Assistant Award, is cited as one of the countries brightest offensive minds and top ten college recruiters by Rivals.com.

Now that Livengood is AD this hire is a mere formality. Sonny Dykes is going to be a thorn in our side me thinks:(

I wouldn't count the chickens just yet. Livengood is a horrible hire, so who knows who will be our coach now.

Dykes is an OC as well, and may turn out to be another Sanford. I would feel safer if we hired Bobby Hauck or Franchione.

I thought Franchione was the frontrunner. I question your source obc - or are you starting this rumor here in hopes it will pick up traction? It's just a question that was posed to Livengood which he immediately responded he wants to look at previous HC experience.

Funny you mention the word "safer" and those two coaches in the same sentence...

Keep Hauck away from student reporters... (http://www.missoulian.com/news/local/article_c3ba0c78-bada-11de-b015-001cc4c002e0.html)

...and keep Fran away from newsletters (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3040891)

But hey, they would fit UNLV perfectly in that regard. :D

I think UNLV should hire Tarkanian as their next football coach -- the man can do nothing wrong! One could only hope they hire another offensive coordinator to "turn the program around."

Not sure Hauck couldn't find a lot better situation to be honest. He doesn't need to take a job at an NSU when some lower-mid-tier BCS will call if he wins the Natty Title this year.

Right...NSU isn't a "lower mid-tier BCS" job?

I think Hauck would be a good hire but I don't think he's going to leave Montana unless something huge he just couldn't pass up opened. He was born and raised in Montana and is taking over a program that is a FCS power and it's only a matter of time before it becomes D1. He would be one of my top candidates for our DC position to be groomed to take over for Ault when he retires but I think that's a long shot.

Did the MWC become a BCS conference?

NSU is now a BCS team. This is great!

I don't think his next move is to become a N-AQ DC or OC. In two years he gets a shot at at a BCS gig if he can keep winning.

He is going to get a interview on Sunday. Sorry to break your hopes.

Well, in comparison to the WAC...it pretty much is.
