...and about past cuts.
The Faculty Senate is holding a meeting today that is reviewing the proposed cuts to academic departments. The Senate assigned the task of vetting the Provost's budget cut proposals to a Senate committee. They developed a report that made recommendations on the Provost's proposals and made alternative proposals. The Senate meeting today is intended to go over both the Provost's proposals and those alternatives proposed by the Senate committee. Today's meeting will result in a set of recommendations that will be pushed forward to the University's administration for final disposition of the campus cuts. The Senate Chair's report has an associated PowerPoint presentation and I've pasted a link to the pdf version of that below. The reason I'm posting this is that there are some slides that give useful information for the curious among us. I've read the Senate committee's report and understand pretty well how the Senate's alternative recommendations differ from the original cuts proposed by the Provost. If anyone has a question about this, I'd be happy to do my best to answer it.
