Even though his dad was a great help at UNLV, I like Tark the Shark Jr. this November.

Anything is better than Reid. I think my dog is smarter and would help the economy more if she were senator.

either one is better than reid. i do think lowden has the edge. she speaks better than danny. her experience as a news anchor serves her well.

Think Tark would be more independent than Lowden. Believe he is a true conservative. He is a successful businessman, has a non-profit organization for kids, has a law degree and think he was a Rhodes Scholar? He and his family have been traveling in a mini-van caravan around rural areas and small towns. Right now I like him as the Republican canadidate too.:)

He reneged on his commitment to play for the Pack when Sonny Allen was hired,he said he was coming and then changed his mind when Sonny's son transfered here...

Uhmmmm.....think Tark played for his own Dad at UNLV.....don't ever recall him "reneging" on any commitment to come north:cool:

Tru Believer is correct (http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2007/Mar-23-Fri-2007/sports/13351670.html)...
It also was an odd circumstance that allowed the Tarkanians to be united at UNLV. Danny Tarkanian, who graduated from Bishop Gorman High School, did not like the idea of playing for his father and was set to attend ***.
But in August before his freshman year, Danny Tarkanian was forced to change plans when Wolf Pack coach Sonny Allen's son, also a point guard, announced he was transferring to ***.

Thx for the info.....didn't remember that. Obviously his somewhat "forced" decision worked out ok for him...playing for his Dad and a #1 nationally ranked team. He was also the very first Rhodes Scholor from UNLV. That being said....what he did or didn't do as a 17 or 18 yr. old kid IMO has little to do with his run for the Senate.

But yet everyone on this board dogs on these kids who commit to Reno and change their minds. At any rate as a native and lifelong diehard fan of the Pack I did know what I was talking about...

I know.....guess my point in questioning your post was the subject of the thread....which was Tarkanian vs Lowden vs Reid, and IMO I felt that bringing up something that occured some 25 to 30 yrs. ago and was about a verbal commit for sports had, IMHO, little or nothing to do about the Senate race. I do like Tarkanian....think he is independent, not an establishment guy, conservative, and merits checking out. Lowden, at this point, has the $$ backing her. For grins...and info....you can go to tark2010.org and see where he stands on issues, etc.

I definitely don't like Sue Lowden,I will give Danny a look.I feel we need a change and that Reid's senority isn't worth the baggage. He has lost touch with most Nevadans...

Sooner or later Reid is going to be gone....it definately needs to be sooner, might as well be this year, do not think NV or this country can take 6 more yrs. There is going to be a debate between front runners for the Repub. nomination race....think April 30.

I think Reid has done more for this state than he is being credited for. I'd rather him over a Republican any day. Especially one that owns her own business, lays off employees then gives husband a $200k bonus. Our state is already embarrassed enough by Ensign, Heller and Gibbons.http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2010/feb/24/lowden-cuts-jobs-gets-bonus/

1) What has Reid done for this State that he deserves so much credit for?
2) What has Heller done to embarrass this State?
3) I agree with you on Ensign and Gibbons and their re-election challenges will be telling.

Here are some interesting exerts from Range Magazine spring 2009 by Tim Findley...."Senate majority leader Harry Reid wasn't joking when he said he could smell the tourists visiting Congress. "My staff told me not to say it," "but it's true, I had to say it." Reid wasn't kidding either when he told farmers in his own state more than 18yrs. ago he was "the Devil" and intended to have his way in cutting their irrigation supplies whether they liked it or not. He is widely known in the Silver State for being a vindicitive, veneful wheeler-dealer in land & power who went as far at one point to throw a Boy Scout out of his WA. DC office for daring to ask about water rights. The poor kid from the tiny mining town of Searchlight has become rich on real-estate deals that many have noted favor some of his friends formerly in the LV casino business. Sometimes that came at the cost of water rights and land belonging to others in northern NV who he made villains and victims. There are general questions raised about his nepotism (sons are lobbiests in DC) and fishy deals with developers."
This article points to a wide range of "deals" Reid has been involved in.....Reid's actions starting back in l990 are still challenging water rights farmers have had through the Reclamation Acts....how his friends from the Del Webb Corp. were able to work out a deal to swap LV property for other lands in NV. how there is just a possibility that Reid was behind a trumped-up grand jury investigation against NV. Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki, who dared to say he would run against Reid. It's taken two or more yrs. was dismissed but of course derailed Krolick's proposed run against Reid.
As for farmers and water right owners the fight continues on....."Reid will deny having any influence on federal investigations, (past two or more yrs. again TCID irrigation district mgr. and employees, which was recently dismissed) and those accused know it is not politically wise to suggest they are being set up by one of the most powerful people in WA. That's now tyranny and demagoguery work.."
This is an interesting article not widely available to most unless you are in Ag. business and subscribe to Range Magazine. Basically the text points to the fact that "Something Stinks".....draw your own conclusions as to what or who.
Heller, IMO is awesome!! Ensign, someone with great promise, has been a huge disappointment....could add more to that but thinking about how Reid has used the state of NV for his own benefit and financial power and gain, (as well as his family) makes the BP boil. For those in the farming area of northern NV. the fight goes on and on and on even today and it all points to Reid.

...lays off employees then gives husband a $200k bonus.
While I think this is a terrible PR move on her part, a $200,000 bonus could in no way pay for the salaries of 106 employees, as that's only $1,890 each per year.
Assuming that the workers fired at her casino made $20,000 per year each (with, say, $5,000 more in non-salary costs... though that's probably too low an estimate), she could have saved 8 of those jobs for one year instead of paying the bonus.
The could have saved (at that ratio) 40 jobs (less than half of the layoffs) by taking no salary at all for her or her husband including the bonus.
