I actually feel sorry for their fanbase. Aside from Frank, their fans that come over here are pretty cool and level-headed. Now is a rough time to be a raggie fan.

Honestly, I don't even have a problem with Frank. He's passionate about his team, as we all are about ours. But most of the Raggie fans I've interacted with seem to have good heads on their shoulders, and this definitely stinks for them. It will be interesting to see how their team responds now that there's no uncertainty about them.

I got mixed feeling, on one hand I want the WAC to be a tough conference in regards to the rest of the country....on the other hand....I still have major problems on how the whole Tyrone nelson thing was handled and I dont care how good young is, knowing he whipped out his pee pee in public makes it real hard to root for him. Combine that with the yearly report on how our players and coachs are treated in las cruces makes it even harder not to grin when something like this happens. Fox had much to say about a certain group there at the pan am center...I might hate UNLV but kruger runs a clean respectable program....I dont think I can say that about NMSU.
That said....karma is a bitch and there are 3 guys of our own who may not be wearing a Pack uni next month.

Are you saying something I am missing, or are you referring to the same 3 guys that aren't wearing them now? Namely: Story, Evans, and Elliot? I didn't think we had any academic liabilities on this team. I thought most carried very good grades, at least from high school.

Blog in RGJ stating that Elliot and Evan still arent cleared to play and carter isnt sure when/if they will be up here at semester break.......the 3rd I was referring to is a potential recruit and I cant tell you more without getting banned

Tough break for the Aggies. On a side note, Herb Pope is averaging 14.6 points and 12.8 rebounds. Seton Hall is 8/0 so far this year.

It's okay. The Gillenwater needed a break anyway. The Silver Surfer has scouted some good planets that need devouring and The Gillenwater was falling behind on his planet consuming quota while trying to be the savior of NSMU hoops. Both are tasks of galactic proportions and even The Gillenwater can't do both at the same time. You Reno fans got lucky again.

I think there's a tangible difference between recruits and current players. Recruits don't have access to your program's facilities to help them make their grades, so it doesn't reflect on your program to any degree beyond recruiting. Namely, it doesn't talk about the ability of players to succeed academically within your program.

Yeah, they'll get a lot more help if they can just qualify and get here.
And they weren't going to play this year anyway. And even if they don't qualify this spring we might get some or all of them in the fall. It's not the same as losing two of your 3 best players.

I bet NMSU wishes they still had Herb Pope. I was reading something today that said he has averaging something like 15 and 14.

Yes, Pope's tearing it up for Seton Hall. Aggie fans have to be mashing their teeth over "coulda beens."
I sure hope Nevada doesn't lose anyone to grades, an injury or any other loss would be devastating to the Pack.

I can understand having a policy for a student to appeal their grades, but I would bet a Las Cruces farm ranch that there was some behind the scenes encouragement by the athletic department to overturn McKines grade. The chance of this happening, this quickly, is an example of a program and school's administration with their priorities mis-aligned.
