You can thank Vegas for this ranking. That city is starting to make Detroit look good.

The wierd thing is that Vegas isn't even listed as one of their worse crime rate cities. My guess is that Nevada is just extremely biased, because almost everyone lives in the cities, and there is a very small rural population.

Ya but my current hometown of Farmington NM is number 1 in drunk driving fatalities.

Oh please. At any given time there are tens of thousands of tourists and transients in Nevada. They are a significant percentage of the population of the state, but when crime figures are calculated it's usually compared to actual resident population. Crimes per 100k of population. Would you rather walk down the street in downtown Las Vegas at 2am or downtown Detroit? Or downtown Baltimore? Washington DC? Hell, I wouldn't walk around some areas of downtown Seattle after 2am for anything, but I feel perfectly comfortable in Vegas or Reno.

Just as silly; for this study a murder counts the same as a burglary. Who counts that way?

I've got old friends from my home town that live down there (I think, it's been a while). I've never understood the connection between Farmington and Northern Nevada.

Just dumb luck that I'm here. No real connection except weather is similar and lots of great outdoor activities. Miss the university setting though. Most of the kids around here go to NMSU and even they think its a hole.
