Can there be any reading in between the lines here with the inordinate amount of JUCO players the staff is recruiting this year? This is the least amount of scholarships available that I can remember and already atleast 3 JUCO players signed, including both defensive lineman. Does this mean Ault isn't planning on being here more than 1-2 more years? Seems like a drastic shift in strategy.
Or, with a Senior QB and Boise at home, is Ault rolling the dice on next year and trying add guys that can play right away on defense?

I think it comes down to having experienced players and immediate quality depth for these next couple of years - guys who have been playing at a high level and should be able to step onto the field without too much drop off in production. I see it as a short term strategy for the long term investment. We all know the potential is there to have a huge year next year and I think if we can just get over that hump (winning the WAC and beating Boise) we can start getting that ball rolling.

You can find Bubba's story on our front page, plus a highlight video. We'll also have more with him on the mid-year Signing Day, which starts on Wednesday, ~AWP

This is the smart thing for the program to be doing...bring in immediate depth to bolster what, on paper, should be Nevada's most talented squad in history. All they need is some good coaching in the defensive backfield and some more "football smart" athletes back there and we will do some big things.

With Chris Metcalf, Duke Williams, Corbin Louks, Doyle Miller, Thaddeus Brown, Issiah Frey, Cory Smith and new guys like Chris Boudreaux, Aaron Brown, and hopefully Derron Smith, this should be a great corp of competition for next year and beyond in the secondary.
I never have understood what happenned to Cory Smith after his stellar spring and fall ball. Maybe that hamstring injury he got before Notre Dame was pretty serious. If so, hopefully he can get a medical redshirt out of it.

Yes, it was just a case of bad luck for Cory. But he could be one of the big surprises this spring and fall, and could indeed lock down a starting corner spot. He can really cover. ~AWP
