Radtke said that one of the refs came over during the timeout and said by rule the ball must go thru the net to count.

Yeah we heard that too, but what if the defender was the obstable that pushed the ball back up and out the hoop? I didn't watch the replay but that's what we were screaming last night - it should have been goaltending IMO.

So if that's the case why wouldn't they just designate somebody to stand under the hoop and punch the ball out every time it went in?
On the replay it looked like the ball was halfway through the net before it got swatted out.

Without looking at the specifics of the rule I would guess there is a clause covering the defense making contact with the ball. I know they can't go through the cylinder but I have no clue how it reads for underneath the rim.

It was Dario that knocked it back up out of the basket with his head. If an opponent did it it would be goal tending.

Live and in the replay it looked like the defender's forearm was what knocked the ball back through the hoop...... hmm....

trying to watch it in slomo is tough, but it does look like it hit the guy's elbow or arm. But that's not how they ruled it or it would have been goaltending.

I am just glad it was not a play that was important in the outcome of the game as it looks to me it hit the SDS player.
