They have the Fiesta Bowl as the 2nd best of the bowls, right behind the title game. The New Mex and Spud Bowl are much farther down the list.

For the record I think this will be a close game, but you have to wonder what they were thinking ranking this game so high when the spread (14.5 now) is the most lopsided of any of the games.

I think because it will be a fun game to watch, Nevada could dominate and roll them but I think you'll see a ridiculous amount of total yardage put up for both teams and people like they as they have their Christmas Eve cocktail or 12...

Yes this would be a good game to turn into a drinking game. Any ideas? Kap passing TD=2 shots, rushing=1?

I'll go 4 on the interception... and streaking through the establishment if the combined effort puts me in the red zone and I get cut off.

A pick-6 = streaking the neighborhood in a red Santa hat, fake white beard, big black boots, carrying a bottle of whatever you were drinking and a long string of reindeer bells.

Something tells me that you've done this before. Maybe the difference is that you might do it at your own house this year?

(Disclaimer: Note that a bowl game win takes priority over all and any of the below mentioned selfishness. Just get the win!)
The selfish stats I want to see in the bowl game:
Colin getting 125 passing yards. That would put him as the only QB in history to do back-to-back 2,000-1,000 seasons. Brad Smith of Missouri did it twice but not in consecutive years. It would also put him over 7,000 for his career.
The next selfish stat, although it's not super likely, is that Vai get 22 yards rushing (that's pretty likely) and Colin get 117 rushing. That would put Vai, Colin, and Luke all at 3,000 for their careers, in the same year, which I believe has never been done before.
As many rushing TD's as Colin can get. One would put him at 40, making him one of a short list to pass/rush for 40. Ian Johnson's WAC record is in reach next year at 58 provided Colin stay healthy. Eric Crouch's QB record 59 is also in reach. Anything garbage he can get will go a long ways towards those. 3 TD's scored and 1 passed would put him at 20/20 for the season (if you include the catch for TD) which only two players have done. Obviously if he just went bonkers ala a UNLV game, he could pass for one and rush for 4 and join Tebow as the only guy to do 20 pass / 20 rush.

What? No 600 and change we need for the all time rushing record? ;)

Joe Webb for UAB already accomplished that this year. He and Colin will be the only two to have passed for 2k and rushed for 1k in consecutive years if he gets his 125yds passing.
I want the Pack to run well enough to set the all time yards per carry record. They probably have to close to 8 yards per carry in the bowl game to do so, but since that's a 64 year old record, it's probably one that will stick around for a long time.

Ok, so that's interesting because I thought that too, but then when you look in the NCAA Official Records Book for 2009 it does not list Webb as doing it in 08.
Something weird there.....
From Record Book:

Vince Young, Texas, 2005 (3,036 passing, 1,050 rushing);
Brad Smith, Missouri, 2005 (2,304 passing, 1,301 rushing);
Dan LeFevour, Central Mich., 2007 (3,652 passing,

With your caveat about a win first, I agree Go for it. My Xmas lists from Santa also includes the receivers getting some good catches, Ball returning a kick for a score and the DBs getting a couple interceptions. I've been good this year, so I think that's not asking for too much!

I don't know why it doesn't show up. Both ESPN and CFBStats.com show him with 1021yds rushing last year. So does the NCAA site which also shows him with 2,367 yards passing last year. It has to be an oversight.
I first noticed it on Graham's site several days ago so I commented that Kap would be joining Webb in a couple of weeks.

SMU vs. Nevada
Three Reasons To Watch This Bowl: 1) Nevada averages 362 rushing yards per game and has three 1,000-yard rushers. It really is the most fun offense in America to watch. 2) If return of June Jones to Hawaii gets you fired up in any way, then Merry Christmas. 3) SMU's passing game might not be among the elite but it could go ballistic against the second-worst pass defense in America.
And Why You Should Spend Your Time Roasting Your Chestnuts: SMU can't stop the run and the offense isn't anything special. This could be nothing more than a fun exercise in seeing how many yards the Wolf Pack O can roll up.
Three Names To Drop That'll Make The Perky Girl In Accounting Want To Take You Into The Storeroom During The Holiday Party For Smooches: 1) Colin Kaepernick, QB Nevada, 2) Emmanuel Sanders, WR SMU, 3) Vai Taua, RB Nevada
First-Thought Pick That Might Change In The Next Few Days On A Whim: Nevada 55 ... SMU 27
