La Tech scouting report from the game last night:

I thought the Bulldogs played pretty tough, until AZ racheted up the defense in the second half. There are still way too many bad shots taken (I'm looking at you, Jamel Guyton) and Rolle both dominates and disappears. I think 15 pounds of muscle would serve him well, either that or develop a consistent 18 footer so he can be an athletic 4. Kyle Gibson was fantastic... really tough for the Wildcats to guard. The new point, DeAndre Brown has a little bit of Kevin Bell in him.

I think LaTech will be pretty tough this year... Probably fighting with Idaho and Nevada.

Nice reply, I didn't get to see the game but La. Tech was right there with them in the 1st Half, which is a good sign for the WAC, same goes for Idaho...Nic Wise is an absolute stud for the 'Cats and I figured the Bulldogs would struggle trying to guard him and they did (24, 6, 5)...Same goes for Idaho and guarding Klay Thompson, he's almost unstoppable and probably my favorite player to watch on the West Coast, he can just flat out score and play...

Ugh! We got Mark McLaughlin and WSU got Klay.... I was disappointed at the time but now that tradeoff looks even worse. Which is a shame because Klay had us on his final list before Nevada got Mark to drop his verbal to WSU. Klay is a real matchup nightmare like Snyder was when he arrived at Nevada.

being the #1 option on a PAC 10 team, and considering what has gone on here in that time, I'm sure Klay has no regrets.

Wise is a tough guard for virtually anybody, but for the 3-4 minutes that K Gibson was guarding him, he wasn't productive. Why they went back to Guyton is beyond me. Like many of these major-mid contests, the difference was a 5-7 minute stretch of great defense and energy by the major team. Other than that, LaTech was equal or better for most of the game, and I like the way they kept fighting such that AZ couldn't really put in the bench guys.
