I love Kap and think of him as my unborn son. Do you think it would be a good idea that he play for the baseball team this spring? He's been here 4 years and can run the pistol in his sleep, so I am not sure what the benefit is of that over playing a season for coach Powers. It would be a great fall back if the NFL doesn't work out, because IMO his highest professional ceiling has got to be baseball. Does anyone know if he has graduated yet? If his academics are on cruise control I see no reason why not to. I love him to death but I just don't see how he fits into the NFL mold right now at QB.

I believe the deal was football and football only when he was recruited. As the most important player on the team there's ZERO chance he'd get cleared to play baseball. Baseball players get injured. That's all we need is our star QB to tear an ACL, labrum or elbow tendon in the off season before what has the potential to be the biggest year in Pack football history.

Very true and I thought about that. Unless he needed Tommy John he would probably be good to go for fall. Just thinking outside the box here and thought it would be a great idea if he wanted to. I think if he did the school would owe him that right.

Considering he was drafted by the Cubs this year without having thrown a baseball competitively in 4 years would lead me to believe he could go pro even without pitching 1 pitch in college.

That's some incredible talent. Can you imagine, having the opportunity as a MLB pitcher as a backup option?

If his passing doesn't improve next year (which I think it will if the coaching staff doesn't tinker with his throwing motion and does a Mac Brown and lets Kap be Kap) he might be better served playing baseball. I'm not knocking him, but I think he has a lot of work to do to improve touch, consistent accuracy and pocket composure . . . no question he has the arm strength. He apparently has major league potential and unless he's willing to switch positions in the NFL pro baseball may be his calling. But it is hard to say, maybe 2/3 years as a backup in the right system (say behind Vince Young) he will develop or he puts it all together next year.

Either way I'm rooting for him. He seems to be a great kid with a great head on his shoulders.

For the record, I will say I think Kap could be a terrific QB. He simply has talents that no other QB I have ever seen has. I just don't any confidence in NFL coordinators to be creative and change their systems to highlight his talents. I know in Madden a QB with his speed that can roll out and option run or throw bombs is virtually unstoppable if you execute. He also wouldn't have to worry about drops as often;)

I think any issues with the passing game come more from our lack of quality experienced receivers, the inexperience of our young receivers and a need for the Union to learn pass blocking as well as they know run blocking.

This year didn't help. Not much room to "practice" passing in game situations when you're rushing for 500+ yards a game. It was a good problem to have but didn't help Kap or the recievers out in development.
