In the end, Babbitt, Blazers a match

As expected, the 2010 NBA Draft was full of intrigue, surprises and trades, with even former Nevada star Luke Babbitt, the 2009-10 WAC Player of the Year, being dealt from Minnesota to Portland. SilverandBlueSports spoke with Babbitt to get his draft night reaction.

Arguably the two best hoops prospects to ever emerge from Northern Nevada, Armon Johnson and Luke Babbitt, who both played for the hometown Wolf Pack, were selected in the 2010 NBA Draft last night.  Coincidentally enough, after a trade involving Babbitt, the two lefties are potential teammates once again, landing spots with Portland Trailblazers.

Armon Johnson was the 35th overall pick (second round) to the Portland Trailblazers just moments ago, and will likely now join Reno native and Wolf Pack teammate Luke Babbitt on the same team in the NBA.

The 2009-10 Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Luke Babbitt, who left after his sophomore year at Nevada, was just selected as the No. 16 overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves.  The T-Wolves already selected Syracuse standout guard Wesley Johnson with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.

On Sunday, reigning WAC Player of the Year Luke Babbitt completed another NBA Draft workout, this time in Salt Lake City in order to meet and perform for the Utah Jazz.  Babbitt worked out with five other Draft prospects for the Jazz, who hold the No. 9 overall selection in the 2010 NBA Draft.
