State of the Union: Power Game
Only two programs this decade have posted back to back seasons where they not only ranked among the top three teams in rushing, but also averaged over 6.0 yards per carry (Y/pc) for an entire season. The most underrated running backs go to college in Reno.
Indeed BB, and I expect another underrated back to arrive in Reno this summer.
I think Mike Ball is the most explosive back Nevada has, bar none. What he did against UNLV, the only game he really played in, was absolutely amazing. I am still baffled that a kid could get conference and national player of the week awards, and Ault wastes the rest of his freshman year on the bench. Maybe someday Ault will realize that you win big games with your best players on the field, Ball, not your favorites, Lippencott. No offense to Luke, but Mike Ball can backpeddle faster than Luke and should have got a lot more playing time than he did.
beantown1, while I agree with you that Ball is probably the most explosive back in the Silver and Blue, what wasn’t mentioned in this article was that Ball was injured for most of the year. Regardless of that fact, even if Mike Ball started every game, Nevada would’ve had the same record since our rushing offense obviously wasn’t the issue last year.
