Giles moving on
SilverandBlueSports has learned that Nevada point guard London Giles, a native of Dallas (Tex.) who has spent the past two seasons in Reno playing in a limited support role behind All-WAC performer Armon Johnson, will transfer.
Giles averaged just over 5 minutes per game during his two-year Nevada career, which began in a rocky fashion. Before he even played his first game for the Pack, the kid they call “Cotton” pleaded guilty to committing petty larceny in October 2008.
Nevertheless, Giles regained the trust of his coaches and stayed on. This past season, he averaged 0.8 points and 0.7 assists in 28 games.

Giles is likely to try and catch on with another D-1 program, perhaps closer to home. Since he still has his redshirt season, he’ll have two years of eligibility remaining even after a transfer.
This departure means that the only current scholarship player on the Nevada roster starting prior to the 2008-09 season is junior Dario Hunt. That’s an incredible turnover for any program considering that’s about 18 months ago. Hunt will be the longest tenured Pack player, despite arriving the summer before last.
Lyndale Burleson graduated last summer, and Brandon Fields, Joey Shaw and Ray Kraemer ended their Nevada careers at the conclusion of the 2009-10 season. Malik Cooke transferred to South Carolina and Giles is transferring now. Richie Phillips had to be medically retired due to injuries. Luke Babbitt and Armon Johnson declared for the NBA just recently, and Ahyaro Phillips was dismissed from the team.
However, Nevada has added a significant amount of talent beginning this off-season. Malik Story transferred to Nevada from Indiana, and Olek Czyz, a former Reno high school star, transferred to Nevada from Duke. Head coach David Carter also added key prospects Marko Cukic and Patrick Nyeko a year ago to the roster, plus two prospects in Jerry Evans and Devonte Elliott who will suit up in 2010-11 as freshmen. Next season, Nevada has signed prospects Derrell Conner, Illiwa Baldwin, Deontè Burton, Jordan Finn and Jordan Burris already.

Thanks for your time in Reno London, and best in your future endeavors.
Best of luck to you and your family London. Thanks for being a member of the pack.
