Nevada 10, Pacific 3
After a disappointing doubleheader yesterday on what was their second Bay Area road trip of the young season, Nevada baseball bounced back on Sunday afternoon in a big way. The Pack clubbed 10 runs, with senior Shaun Kort leading the way with 5 RBI’s, to take the finale against Pacific 10-3.
Kort’s first-inning blast over the right field wall gave Nevada a lead that senior lefty Chris Garcia would not relinquish, pushing the Pack’s record to 4-3 overall on the young 2010 season. Garcia, a native of Sparks, went 7 strong innings, striking out 7 and walking no one in a very impressive outing. A solid 6-foot-3, 200-pound prospect, Garcia gave up just 1 earned run and 5 hits to pick up his first win of the season.
Nevada had four hitters, including Kort, rack up three-hit games. Senior CF Westley Moss, who made a terrific play in the field in the first after relaying a sure double by Pacific catcher Joe Oliveira into an out at third base, plus junior third baseman Nick Leid and freshman Ronnie Mitchell II all popped in a trio of hits for the Pack. Leid homered in the contest as well, his first of the year.

Nice pics and good to see a Wolf Pack win. I went to the DH yesterday and it was cold and rainy. Miserable weather for a baseball game, although I did have fun watching my buddies kid play for Pacific. I also think Nevada had as many fans there yesterday as Pacific. Lots of scouts at the games yesterday watching the kids. Talked to a couple, so it was fun.
Thanks WK – it was a fun environment, and yeah, I’d have to estimate that the Pack had as many, if not more, fans out at Klein Family Field today too. I guess I caught the best game though. LOL
