USU 76, Nevada 65
Thanks to 19 points and 9 rebounds by junior Tai Wesley, Utah State moved their winning streak to 8 straight by topping Nevada 76-65 in Logan (Utah). It was the Aggies third straight win over the Wolf Pack, dropping Nevada to 13-9 overall (5-4 in the WAC).
7 assists and 14 fouls were the two statistics that stood out the most for David Carter’s club in the final box score. In one of the most difficult places in all of college basketball to get a road win, the Pack managed just 7 assists on 26 field goals, shooting a lukewarm 44 percent from the floor. The 14 fouls also stood out, considering Utah State was called for just 7 fouls all game. The Aggie total is the lowest number of fouls we’ve come across in any game in the WAC this year, and the lowest number for the Utah State team perhaps in the history of its program. They’ve been in double-digits in every game this year, and all but one a year ago.
Utah State also grabbed a staggering 21 offensive rebounds in the game. They also posted 18 assists on 27 made shots.
For the Pack, sophomore forward Luke Babbitt once again led the way, scoring 20 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Junior guard Armon Johnson, who leads the WAC in assists, added 19 points and 5 assists.
Nevada returns to the floor on Wednesday night in Moscow (Ida.) against the Vandals, which sport an 11-11 (3-7 in the WAC) record.
