Nevada 66, Hawaii 60
After a 66-60 victory over WAC foe Hawaii at Lawlor Events Center, Nevada moved their home record 10-1 on the season. Sophomore Luke Babbitt led the way for the Pack, pouring in a game-high 20 points. Senior Brandon Fields added 16 points, plus 6 rebounds and 3 assists on the night.
Babbitt, who is currently third in the conference in both scoring and rebounding (the only player on any team in the conference to rank in the Top 5 in both categories), was once again clutch down the stretch. He made six free throws in six attempts with under two minutes to go in a tie game, plus grabbed a key rebound to help secure the victory. Along with his 20 points, Babbitt added 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 3 blocks to give Nevada their fifth conference win.
Junior point guard Armon Johnson did not score in double-digits for only the second time this year–scoring 9 points–but the Reno native did dish out an impressive 12 assists for the second time this year.
The Pack, which are in an odd stretch of games that will only see them play only once in a thirteen-day period, will travel to Logan (Utah) next Saturday to once again battle Utah State.
